Lt. Gen. J.S. Ahluwalia, PVSM (retd), President of the ‘Institute Of Directors’ and of the ‘World Environment foundation’ (WEF). A Post Graduate in Electronics Engineering and MBA, and has specialized in engineering support to guided weapon systems. He has undergone extensive training in various manufacturing concerns in France, UK, USSR and Japan. He is an alumnus of the National Defence College and college of Defence Management. He retired from the army in Dec 1994, as the Chief Executive and Director General of the ‘Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers’ of the Indian Army. He was awarded the highest decoration of ‘Param Vishist Seva Medal’ by the President of India in January 1994. He is a chartered Engineer and Fellow Member of a large number of foreign and Indian professional engineering and management institutions. He was chairman of the Institution of engineers (INDIA) and President of Delhi Management Association.

He has also been on the Board of Governors of Engineering staff College of India, and Delhi Institute of Technology, and President of ‘Association of Quality and Environment Systems Assessors (AEQSA). He also headed the Quality Committee of the College of Wigen and Leigh (UK,) in India. He has participated in several important national and international seminars, workshops training programmes and conferences in India and abroad. He has authored a textbook on ‘TQM-Concepts and Practices’ in 1993, and edited and published over 20 books covering ‘Total Quality Management’,’ Environment Management‘,‘Corporate Governance’, ‘CSR’ and ‘sustainability’ published through Tata McGraw Hills and others. He has been actively involved in adventure and sailing activities and organized “EME-REME’ Environment and Climbing Expedition” by a combined Indo-British team in Himalayas in 1993. He is an EARA(UK) / IQA(UK) approved lead instructor for EMS (ISO-14001) and QMS(ISO 9001) Lead Auditor training Courses and is a lead auditor for SA 8000(Social Accountability). A World Bank trained in ‘Train the Trainer’ program for Corporate Governance, he is a much sought after specialist and trainer in CG, CSR and Integrated Management System.
Lt. Gen. Surinder Nath, PVSM, AVSM (Retd), Ex-Chairman, Union Public Service Commission, New Delhi, Ex-Vice Chief of Army Staff, Army Headquarters, Ex-Independent Director on the Board of Larsen and Toubro; Fellow of the Institute of Directors, New Delhi; Member of the Advisory Council, VGSOM, IIT, Kharagpur; M.Sc. in Defence Studies from Madras University; M.A. in International Relations from Allahabad University.

Born on 26th June 1937, Joined National Defence Academy in 1953 and commissioned into Regiment of Artillery from Indian Military Academy in June 1957; Attended various professional courses including Survey and Target Acquisition Course, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, USA; Defence Services Staff College Course at Wellington, Nilgirs; Command and General Staff Course, Tehran, Iran; National Defence College, New Delhi.

He took over as Chairman, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), New Delhi on 11th December, 1998 an appointment equivalent to the Cabinet Secretary, the highest post in the Government of India. UPSC is a Constitutional Body entrusted with the task of recruitment to various senior level posts in the Central Government and Union Territories and other organized cadres, viz. IAS, IPS and IFS etc. by conducting various competitive examinations and also by direct interviews. Apart from being the premier Institution in the country for recruitment and selection to posts/appointments ranging upto the highest level in the Government of India, it is an expert body for the development of human resources. Visited France, UK and USA in July 2001 to study the system and procedures adopted by similar organizations in those countries. After successfully completing his tenure in UPSC, demitted that office on 25th June 2002.

In December 2002, he was selected as Chairman of a Study Group constituted by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India to review the system of performance appraisal, promotion, empanelment and placement procedures for All India Services i.e. IAS, IPS and IFOS and Group ‘A’ services of the Government of India. The recommendations of the Study Group were submitted to the Hon’ble Prime Minister in July 2003 and have been frequently highlighted in the Media as “Surinder Nath Committee Report”. Most of these recommendations have been accepted by the Government of India and are now under implementation. He was also a member of another Study Group constituted by the PMO in 2006 for designing and planning inservice training for IAS officers at junior, middle and senior level. The recommendations of the Study Group have been accepted and already implemented. He was an Independent Director on the Board of Larsen and Toubro Company Ltd from August 2004 to September 2007. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Institute of Directors, New Delhi, which is deeply involved in corporate governance, corporate social responsibility and enhancing effectiveness of the Board of Directors.
G.R. Bhatia, Partner and Head of Competition Law Group, Luthra & Luthra Law Offices, New Delhi Mr. G. R. Bhatia is a Partner with the Firm and heads the Competition Law Practice Group. He advises and appears before the Competition Commission of India (CCI) and the Competition Appellate Tribunal (CompAT) on competition issues. He is an Ombudsman for several German majors on issues relating to anti competitive and anti corruption in the Indian jurisdiction. He has appeared as a Competition Law Expert in various courts including the London Court of International Arbitration. Mr. Bhatia is a Former Additional Director General, CCI and the erstwhile Monopolies & Restrictive Trade Practices Commission, New Delhi. He was associated with the amendments which were made in the Competition Act in 2007.

He underwent intensive training in ‘Anti-monopoly Laws in Japan’ organized by the Japan Fair Trade Commission as well as training programmes organized by the Korean Fair Trade Commission in Seoul. Further, Mr. Bhatia spearheaded the Luthra team that advised the FTC and the DoJ in aligning the U.S. antitrust internal reference materials to Indian laws and circumstances. In recognition of his in-depth experience in the field of law, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India appointed him as an Expert on the National Committee on Competition Policy. The Committee was tasked with the responsibility of formulating a new Competition Policy for India besides suggesting necessary amendments to the Competition Act, 2002.

He had also been an Officer of Indian Company Law Service and had exposure as Registrar of Companies of J & K State and Official Liquidator of a High Court at Patna. Mr. Bhatia is a faculty with the Indian Institute of Chartered Accountants and Indian Institute of Management for competition. He is Consulting Editor of Manupatra Competition Law Reports and also a Member of Editorial Board of Chartered Secretary. Mr. Bhatia has also been ranked amongst the ‘Leaders in their Field’ in Competition/Antitrust by the Chambers Asia 2012, a Chambers & Partners publication.
Jyotsana Bhatnagar, Partnerships Officer at UN World Food Programme former head of CSR with BP & Castrol India Limited

He heads the private sector partnerships function at the UN World Food Programme in India. A social practitioner with nearly three decades of work experience, Jyotsna has led the Corporate Social Responsibility portfolios for several large multinational companies in India. Her last CSR assignment was with the global energy major BP and the lubricants company Castrol, in India. Over her 26 years of work experience Jyotsna has made significant contributions to social responsibility strategies and programme portfolios across a range of industries and the services sector. Working with multinational companies such as Monsanto, Cairn Energy and British Gas, in development initiatives with the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation and several international and national NGOs, have contributed to a rich and vibrant learning experience.

Jyotsna has been an active member of expert groups for various Indian CSR road map development forums including those of the Government of India’s Ministry of Corporate Affairs. She is also a board member of the NGO, Partners in Change. A Human Resources management post graduate further enhanced with the World Bank Executive Program on ‘Inclusive and Sustainable Business’, Jyotsna has worked in varied environments in India, the US and UK.
Raminder S. Gujral , Independent Director, Reliance Industries Limited, Adani Power Ltd.

He is an Independent Director on the Board of Reliance & Adani Power Ltd . His diverse qualifications include a B.A. (Honours) in Economics, an L.L.B., an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad and an M.A. in International Finance/Business from The Fletcher School, Tufts University.

He joined the Indian Administrative Services from the Haryana Cadre in 1976 and retired from the post of Finance Secretary for the Government of India in 2013.

He has held the positions of Secretary (Revenue), Secretary (Expenditure) and Secretary (Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways) in the Government of India. He served as the Chairman of the National Highways Authority of India, the Director General of Foreign Trade and also the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the National Institute of Financial Management.

N.K. Jain (B Sc., L.L.B., FCS, DCL, FCPS), is a science graduate and has completed his law from Delhi University in 1974. He is a fellow member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and an honorary fellow member of The Institute of Certified Public Secretaries – Kenya.
He has industry experience of over 38 years which includes more than 29 years of managerial experience in senior positions. His last assignment was as the Secretary and CEO of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India. Under his leadership, the Institute recorded outstanding growth and development on all fronts. He has wide experience in strategy formulation and its execution to achieve the results within the targeted timeframe.

He is a widely travelled and has addressed various national and international seminars, conferences and workshops of international repute. He is an expert in company law matters and has addressed series of seminars, conferences and workshops organised by ICSI, ICAI, ICWAI, FICCI, ASSOCHAM, Corporates and others on Companies Act, 2013 and the Rules framed thereunder. He has also authored several articles which have been published in various national economic newspapers, journals and professional magazines. Prof. (Dr.) Sunder Ram Korivi is an MA (Economics & Political Science) and PhD from the University of Mumbai. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Associate of the Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India and Associate of the Insurance Institute of India. He was a full-time faculty member at SP Jain Institute of Management and Professor at NMIMS, where he served as Heads of Departments of Finance and Economics and later, Dean of the School of Business Management at NMIMS University. His interests are in the fields of Financial Reporting, Financial Institutions & Markets and Fixed Income Securities. He has lectured at several institutions of national importance, such as RBI Bankers' Training College, National Institute of Bank Management, SPBT Bankers Training College, LIC Management Development Centre, National Insurance Academy and NITIE. In addition to authoring papers in National Journals and International Conference Papers, he has served as a guide to students PhD and M.Phil students and has also conducted policy research.
Arcot Kumaresan, Fellow Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Federation of Insurance Institutes. He is a Law Graduate from Bangalore University and has Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism. He brings with him over 40 years of rich experience in Corporate Affairs having worked in various core industries viz. Information Technology, Steel, Fertilizers, Manufacturing, Insurance and Finance of big business houses in India. Apart from being a visiting faculty of Institute Of Directors, during his illustrious career, he has served as a faculty member on a couple of Institutes imparting knowledge on Intellectual Properties. ILAM Kamboj is a well qualified professional who has done M.Com, PGDPM & LW, MBA, FCS and LLB. He is a Doctorate from NALSAR University of Law. His research topic is “Corporate Governance as a Turn Around Strategy – A study of listed companies in Andhra Pradesh”. Dr. Rama Krishna is formerly a Development Banker for 26 years in the First Development Financial Institution in India viz., Industrial Finance Corporation of India (IFCI) Ltd. during 1977-2003 and took Voluntary Retirement as Assistant General Manager in 2003. During his tenure in IFCI, he worked in various Departments including Project Appraisals, Project Monitoring/Follow up, Stressed Assets, Revival and Rehabilitation, BIFR/AAIFR, Legal Department and Secretarial Department (handled 13.5 lakh shareholders) and conducted Board Meetings, AGMs etc. He is a practicing Advocate and Corporate Legal Advisor in the areas of Corporate Laws, Civil and Criminal Laws before High Courts, National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) (formerly Company Law Board), Criminal Courts (Economic Offences), Debts Recovery Tribunals (DRTs), Civil Courts, Consumer Cases, Arbitration matters. K. Narasimha Murthy, B.Sc., F.C.A., F.C.M.A (59), having brilliant academic record, getting ranks in both CA & ICWA courses entered the Profession of Cost & Management Accountancy in 1983. He is associated with the development of Cost & Management Information Systems for more than 175 Companies covering more than 50 Industries. In addition, he is closely associated with turning around of many large Corporates, focusing on systems improvement with Cost Reduction approach.

He is closely involved with several National level Institutions, presently on the Boards of STCI Finance Ltd. Srinivasa Murthy, Practicing Company Secretary, Bangalore is a Post Graduate in Commerce, Bachelor of General Laws and a Fellow Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, New Delhi.

He has 15 years of experience in Banking with State Bank of India, 5 years of diverse experience in SBI Capital Markets Private Limited and 20 years experience as Practising Company Secretary and Consultant-Corporate Finance. He retired as the CEO of L&T-Komatsu Ltd in 2014 after serving Larsen & Toubro group companies for nearly 32 years in various capacities across multi locations in India, such as Bangalore, Mumbai, Nashik, Rourkela, Hazira, Faridabad & Chennai.

Currently he is a Non-Executive Director at Ajax Fiori Engineering (India) Pvt.Ltd and an Independent Director at Lincoln Helios Ltd (a SKF group co.) He started his career at NTTF and worked as Tool Room Engineer for 5 years. He has worked at Kodak (India), at their camera mfg plant as Manager- Manufacturing Developments for one year. His career spans across wide spectrum, ranging from setting up green-field manufacturing plants to tie-ups with MNCs for technology transfer and Joint Venture partnerships. During his career at L&T, he has been the founder member of several green field and brown field projects, noteworthy among them being the Hydraulic Component / Excavator mfg plant at L&T, Bangalore, Agriculture Tractor mfg. plant at Pune and Boilerplant auxiliaries’mfg plants at Hazirawhere he was the CEO of the joint venture L&T-Howden Pvt. Rajnikant Patel has unique work experience of more than 32 years in Financial Services sector encompassing Commercial Banking, Bank Regulation; Capital Markets & Commodity Markets. He was the MD & CEO of Indian Commodity Exchange managing and leading the 4th Commodity futures exchange in a highly competitive market. He launched India’s first Commodity market module in MBA degree program. Previously as MD & CEO of Bombay Stock Exchange he was responsible for converting BSE into a Limited Company Under the Govt. of India Corporatization & Demutualization of Stock Exchanges Scheme making BSE the First Exchange in India to do so.

He worked closely with Ministry of Finance & SEBI for formulating the policy. Executed divestment of BSE leading to a valuation of around billion US$. Got ISO certification making BSE the First Asian Exchange and only the Second Exchange in the World. M.R. Prasanna (Pras), a native of Mysore, holds a Master’s Degree in Law from the University of Mysore and is a Gold Medalist. After being an independent Counsel for about 7 years he worked as Head of the Legal function for over 28 years with different organizations like Alfa Laval, Brooke Bond India Limited (now part of Hindustan Unilever). He was the Chief Legal Officer of Larsen & Toubro Limited, Mumbai for seven years. For about 12 years, Pras was the General Counsel of the Aditya Birla Group, spearheading mergers and acquisitions. Since May 2010, Prasanna has relocated to Bangalore as an Independent Consultant primarily for corporates, advising them on a variety of corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions.

He is also a member of the Karnataka Bar Association and appears in court primarily in diverse corporate matters. He is associated with Aarna Law as a Senior Advisor to that firm.
